Nacida en Managua el 9 de diciembre de 1948 Gioconda Belli es una poeta y novelista nicaragüense, despojada de su nacionalidad en 2023 adoptando la chilena y en 2024 la española. Su primera obra data de 1972 "sobre la grama" donde aborda sin tapujos el cuerpo y la sexualidad femenina. Activista consumada, le llevó a militar en el Frente Sandinista de Liberación Nacional de 1970 a 1993, uniéndose a la lucha contra la dictadura de Anastasio Somoza y más tarde se haría cargado de la gestión de la Revolución Popular Sandinista.

En 1990 publica su segunda novela "Sofía de los presagios", en 19956 "waslala" y no publicaría más novelas hasta 2001 con "el país bajo mi piel" un relato de sus memorias como activista en el frente sandinista. El éxito le llegaría en 2005 con "el pergamino de la seducción" recibiendo el Premio Pluma de Plata en la Feria del Libro de Bilbao y en 2006 recibiría el Premio Internacional de Poesía Ciudad de Melilla por "fuego soy apartado y espada puesta lejos".

Ya en 2018 lanzaría "las fiebres de la memoria" y "rebeliones y revelaciones". En 2022 publicó el ensayo "luciérnagas".
