Clive Baker nace el 5 de octubre de 1952, en Penny Lane, Liverpool. Es un escritor, director de cine, dibujante y pintor. Autor del género de horror y fantasía. Estudió Inglés y Filosofía en la Universidad de Liverpool. Es uno de los más aclamados en su área. Es conocido por la serie de relatos de "Libro de sangre" y sus adaptaciones cinematográficas (Hellraiser y Razas de noche).

Además de su reconocida faceta literaria, ha destacado como un gran ilustrador, director y guionista de cine, siendo el creador de películas como Hellraiser o Candyman. Tiene también numerosas adaptaciones de su obra al cómic. Colaboró con Marvel Comics en la creación de un sello editorial propio llamado Razorline, el cual tuvo corta duración.
