In an era of Earth's future named The Age of Ascension a united band of diverse scientists, led by the mysterious Raphaella Qaz, find expanded potential in the advancing use of entangled particles. These new beings are placed aboard Earth's greatest achievement, The Ship That Sailed the Stars, and launched on a now-possible journey to the star Proxima Centauri.

Known colloquially as The Speed-Walkers, the seven make the journey to Proxima, but do not return to Earth. Why? What happened and what have the time-altered adult Speed-Walkers become through a life in deep space?
