The Road to Elsewhere is a collection of facts, quotes and stories, wrapped around over one hundred pertinent photographs. A majority of the images are accurate depictions of travel destinations that meld seamlessly with the text. Together they tell the story of almost a half-century of travel anecdotes from Texas to Europe. There are layovers in Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, and various U.S. locations. As the son of a career military officer who was redeployed every few years, travel became a natural occurrence. The desire to wander never diminished, and now Jim deals with an internal battle between the comforts of home, and an urge to leave. As he mentions in the book, "The only real cure for wanderlust is the anxiety of travel." The Road to Elsewhere is sprinkled with historical facts and personal insight. Travel wisdom by luminaries such as Paul Theroux and Gautama Buddha round out the text.
