Natal de Washington D.C., Meg Waite Clayton es una novelista graduada en Derecho, Historia y Psicología por la Universidad de Michigan. Trabajó unos años como abogada y empezó a escribir tras trasladarse a una granja a las afueras de Baltimore.

Ha colaborado en medios como Los Angeles Times, Writer's Digest y Runner's World, además de intervenir en programas radiofónicos.

Su debut literario fue The Language of Light y con The Wednesday Sisters Clayton se convirtió en éxito de ventas. El último tren a la libertad es su primera obra traducida al castellano.
