Cornua quickly becomes embroiled in trying to find the murderer but finds himself at odds with the police and criminal gangs. Questions abound: Who is the murderer? What are the gangs after? Can an absent-minded philosopher be an effective amateur detective? Who wins Julia's heart? The Philosopher's Murder Case was written by Jack Randall Crawford, professor of English at Yale University, and published in 1931.
