Escritora estadounidense, Shannon Chakraborty nació el 7 de diciembre de 1985 en Nueva Jersey. Escribe fantasía histórica y ficción especulativa y reside en Queens junto a su familia.

Chakraborty quería especializarse en historia, especialmente en Oriente Medio; sin embargo, la crisis económica de 2008 cambió sus planes. Mientras trabajaba para mantener a su familia se mantuvo ocupada escribiendo la que sería su primera novela, La ciudad de bronce, el inicio de la trilogía Daevabad. En 2023 comenzaron a traducirse sus novelas al castellano.

Las historias de Chakraborty han sido traducidas a más de doce lenguas y han sido nominadas a premios como el Hugo, el Locus o el World Fantasy.
