Max van Manen es un educador, investigador y filósofo de origen neerlandés-canadiense reconocido internacionalmente por sus aportes a la fenomenología hermenéutica y a la investigación cualitativa en educación. Tras emigrar a Canadá desde los Países Bajos, desarrolló gran parte de su carrera académica en la Universidad de Alberta, donde se convirtió en una figura clave en el estudio de la experiencia vivida como fundamento para comprender los procesos educativos. Su trabajo ha influido en campos tan diversos como la pedagogía, la enfermería, la psicología, la salud y las ciencias sociales, gracias a un enfoque que privilegia la reflexión profunda sobre la experiencia humana cotidiana.

Entre sus obras verificadas destacan Researching Lived Experience, Phenomenology of Practice (Fenomenología de la práctica), The Tact of Teaching y Pedagogical Tact.
