When Devi's boyfriend Ash sends her a pencil drawing of a hooded figure standing at the mouth of a cave - this could be you friday - it feels like exactly the kind of invitation she'd write for her characters but never take herself. She doesn't know a d20 from a d12. She doesn't know Ash's friends, his Friday-night world, or why he seems most fully himself when he's talking about a dungeon inside a volcano.

Saying yes means walking into a room full of strangers, sitting down at a table, and playing someone else.
