Romania is one of the most popular destinations for Western missionaries, both short and long term. While this history of mission work is indeed a cause for rejoicing, there is real danger in not fully understanding the cultural ramifications of unexamined mission efforts. The delicate work of heralding the gospel in culturally-appropriate forms, a process missiologists call contextualization, is the need of the hour.
