Professor Barry's book bridges several disciplines that increasingly are treated as hermetically sealed and separate from each other: biblical exegesis and systematic theology (in this case, soteriology). Barry's dialogue with Jewish sources on the theology of the Temple and Day of Atonement is admirable, and contributes to a refreshing perspective on traditional Christian debates about Christ’s atonement, satisfaction, and the inter-Trinitarian relations in light of the cross.
