Eva Illouz, nacida el 30 de abril de 1961 en Fez, Marruecos, es una socióloga y escritora franco-israelí especializada en la historia de la vida emocional y el impacto del capitalismo en la cultura. Actualmente, es profesora de sociología y antropología en la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén y ha sido directora de estudios en la École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) en París. Sus investigaciones se centran en la mercantilización de las emociones y el "capitalismo afectivo".

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "Intimidades congeladas: Las emociones en el capitalismo" (2007), "¿Por qué duele el amor?" (2012) y "Happycracia: Cómo la ciencia y la industria de la felicidad controlan nuestras vidas" (2019), esta última coescrita con Edgar Cabanas. Estos trabajos pertenecen al género de la sociología y han sido traducidos a numerosos idiomas, consolidando su reputación internacional.
