This book constitutes an enlarged version of the earlier work "Easy Guide to Mesmerism and Hypnotism", including information on the secrets of mesmerism, clairvoyance, hypnotism, willforce and mindreading. 'Mesmerism' is another word for 'Animal Magnetism', coined by British magnetizers in an attempt to distance themselves from animal magnetism, which revolved around the idea of 'magnetic fluid'. Hypnosis arose from mesmerism, and was a practice described by the surgeon James Braid as being 'rational mesmerism'. A complicated field indeed! This is a fascinating text on the two subjects and how they are related, sure to be of much value to anyone with an interest in the subject and well deserving of a place within collections of hypnotism literature. We are proud to republish this antique text now complete with a new introduction on the subject.
