ABOUT THE BOOK Daniel and Faye is the sequel to Charles and Melinda, a work of historical fiction set against the backdrop of pre-segregation America. In spite of the outlawing of Jim Crow Laws that have remedied some of the problems of this country's racial tensions and racism in the past. For the family of Charles and Melinda trials and tribulations continue for black Americans. Faye still recalls the bitter moments of her own childhood, including a KKK attack on her family that resulted in the loss of their home, followed by her father's evil and unjust incarceration on a chain gang. While Daniel comes from a different background, he, too, sees the destruction caused in a discriminatory society that is still separate and certainly not equal. The lovers must navigate the difficulties of their lives together in the tumultuous 1970s, a time of protest and an ever-increasing drug epidemic that harms blacks and whites alike. As time wanes on and their families go through countless changes, can they find solace and strength in each other?
