This book describes the investigative efforts in developing gel polymer electrolytes and composite solid polymer electrolyte membranes with polyacrylamide as its host polymer. Gel and solid polyacrylamide polymer electrolytes are complexed with methanesulfonic acid and para-toluenesulfonic acid. The polymer electrolytes are characterised at room temperature by using EIS datas. The FTIR spectra are analysed to describe the mechanism involved in the proton transfer within the membranes. The characteristic shifts of the absorbance bands of C=O and NH2 are used to obtain the nature of the bonding and interaction between the polymers and the acids. Finally, the tin-air batteries are fabricated to test the electrochemical characteristic of the synthesised polymer electrolytes.The tin-air battery cell with PAAm-MSA GPE exhibited superior electrochemical cell performance in the discharge capacity.
