Deirdre Nansen McCloskey's latest meticulous work examines how economics can become a more "human" science. Deirdre Nansen McCloskey (nacida el 11 de septiembre de 1942 en Ann Arbor, Míchigan) es una economista e historiadora estadounidense. Se formó en Economía en Harvard y ha sido profesora distinguida en la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago, impartiendo clases de Economía, Historia, Inglés y Comunicación.

Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran "Las virtudes burguesas: Ética para una era de comercio" (2006), "La dignidad burguesa: Por qué la economía no puede explicar el mundo moderno" (2010) y "La igualdad burguesa: Cómo las ideas, no el capital o las instituciones, enriquecieron el mundo" (2016). Estos libros pertenecen al género de la historia económica y la filosofía económica. Además, ha recibido doctorados honoris causa de varias instituciones, incluyendo la Universidad de Gotemburgo y la Universidad Nacional de Irlanda en Galway.
