Reseña del libro "Battle Mountain (en Inglés)"
The twenty-second of July, one day after Yech'on. Companies come apart in the dark and reassemble by morning, the military police collect stragglers by the score and send them back untried, and on the last day of the month a first lieutenant named Gilbert refuses an order and hands over his pistol belt. He will be sentenced to be shot.On the sixth of August, a private first class of Company M stays at his gun to cover a withdrawal and is killed. The regimental journal records nothing of the action. The Medal of Honor follows. Then the mountain. The crest cannot be conceded, and neither army can hold it, so it is taken and lost and taken again up spurs one man wide. A staff officer watches Company C come down from its fourth trip and says it out loud, not unkindly, as a finding: that company is a shell. In September the division commander recommends the regiment be disbanded, untrustworthy and incapable of carrying out the missions expected of an infantry regiment. Sixty general courts martial follow, some of them ten minutes long. A reporter for the Baltimore Afro-American starts adding up the sentences at her kitchen table.Twelve words outweighed everything the regiment did that summer. It took the United States Army forty six years to answer them.THE DEUCE FOUR TRILOGY carries the 24th Infantry Regiment through its last two years. Documentary fiction, built on the Army's own history of the regiment.
