After 41 years in the U.S. Army and the private sector, as a "Warrior", Colonel (Retired) Rick Kiernan has witnessed American History "first-hand" from the Cold War to Vietnam, to the Gulf War, and finally, the Global War on Terrorism. His experiences involved sharing sacrifices with a "band of brothers". In this memoir, which has been a "labor of love", he describes his adventures during his years in the service, a journey which has taken him to live in ten states and six countries. He also includes "lessons learned" in an effort to "pass the torch" of service to others who may serve their country and the values that we hold so dear but always have to defend from all enemies foreign and domestic.Colonel (Retired) Rick Kiernan is a former Infantry Officer, Paratrooper and Public Affairs Officer who served in Vietnam and the First Gulf War. Further assignments included Germany, Alaska, Hawaii and The Pentagon where he served as Chief Spokesman during Operation Desert Storm. In 1991, he led the Last US Delegation to the Former Soviet Union to assist The Kremlin with its Media Relations program. As a Public Affairs Officer he has been the Editor of the INFANTRY magazine, host of a Public Television Show and Managing Editor of three weekly newspapers. Upon his Army Retirement, Rick spent the next 15 years assisting emerging Democracies with their initiatives towards freedom as the Senior Vice President with MPRI, a Private Military Company.
