Liver disease, also termed as hepatic disease, is a condition of the liver characterized by weight loss and jaundice, among many others. Imaging techniques of ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and transient elastography are used for the examination of liver tissue and bile ducts. Hepatitis infections are treated using anti-viral medications. Other medications such as steroid-based drugs, ursodeoxycholic acid, etc. target specific symptoms and conditions of the liver and strive to slow down the progression of the disease.
