A Native American Boy, Roberto Fid, and a white girl, Jillianne Thorenson, are in love. They romantisize the days of yore by assimilating Indian lore. The two would-be lovers devise a marriage ceremony that involves feats of athleticism, physical and mental stamina, and derring-do. The ceremony runs the course of seven tortuous days. Virgins both, they are about to challenge the last obstacle, a stark naked moonlight leap from a high bridge. In a blaze of blinding light, they are attacked by Jillianne's rejected suitor and his reluctant accomplice. The suitor is a shotgun weilding sociopath. There are basically three reactions to surprise attacks: fight, flee or freeze. In this instance, there is no time for fear. The girl flees by stepping off the bridge. Roberto freezes, if just for a split second. This finite increment of time costs him his life. From depthless sorrow to blind rage, Jillianne's mind and body spins through a gamut of distress. Her flight is long and extremely trechorous. The river gorge possesses a spirit that takes invasions of its privacy with murderous intent. Jillianne defears the gorge and a long, petriying night lost in a hidden cavern. The cavern's entrance is concealed by storage shelves in an underground root cellar. What she discovers in that cavern instills in her the courage to slay her attacker, and to do so in the most heinous manner she can contrive. While investigating the young couple's disappearance, Hershel, Roberto's older brother is swept into the gorge. The girl saves him from certain death. Later, she employs female wiles to enlist the aid of Hershel as a coconspirator in her venomous plot. Hershel is a war veteran. He attempts to pursuade Jillianne that the brand of reprisal she seeks will graduallu poison her id, and devour her alive. Love grows from passion, gratitude, desparation, and a force neither can truly understand, but is Hershel's love for Jillianne strong enough to eradicate her need for such dark revenge?
