My novella is a short story base out of Dallas, Texas. It narrates the life journey of two men; their path to becoming police officers and the life altering event that put their career and integrity to trial. One police officer kills a woman in self-defense. Because of her husband's political stature, the city goes out their way to pursue criminal charges against the officer; even to the extent of falsifying evidence. The police department and the district attorney are all corrupt and in agreement to convict him of murder. A month later the other officer kills a woman in revenge but the case doesn't get looked at. In fact, the police department will go through uncharted measures to cover up this dirty secret. The courage of one officer will bring the story to full circle only to find out its much bigger than the police Chief. He then must find a way to overcome more corruption and save his fiancé.
