This is the first catalog on centipedes (Chilopoda) that covers a large geographic region of the world and includes information on all the orders of centipedes for the area. It was designed to help biologists/ecologists to quickly access information and answer questions such as: What species live in this state? How many introduced species are there? What states have this species been reported from? Do we know the male and female of this species? Where are the holotypes of this species kept? What literature reports this species from my state? What species are cavernicolous? Are there centipede fossils? and much more. All literature dealing with each species is listed chronologically after each species account (detail of literature found in bibliography). There is an appendix in the back that lists all the species found in each state or province for the covered geographic region. Hopefully this reference book will inspire more people to work on centipedes and we will learn more about their natural history. This book should make this task much much easier than it was before as there was almost nowhere to start for anyone who wasn't familiar with this group of animals. Now much of what we know about these organisms has been summarized in this catalog or gives easy access to more detailed information through the literature that is referenced.
