Sonja Wimmer es una reconocida ilustradora y autora nacida en Múnich en 1974. Estudió diseño gráfico en su ciudad natal y se especializó en ilustración en la Llotja de Barcelona. Tras desarrollar su carrera como diseñadora en Múnich y Bruselas, se trasladó a Barcelona, donde vive y trabaja principalmente como ilustradora freelance para editoriales internacionales. Su obra ha sido galardonada en varias ocasiones, destacando el Moonbeam Children's Book Award que recibió en 2011 por «La coleccionista de palabras» y premios posteriores para títulos como «Hija» e «Hijo». Entre sus libros más valorados se encuentran «La coleccionista de palabras», «La sombrerería mágica», «El cielo de Afganistán», «La ola de estrellas», «La sorpresa del jardinero» y «Cipariso».

Su estilo se caracteriza por el uso de elementos poéticos y fantásticos, aportando una luz y emoción singulares a sus ilustraciones, y siempre buscando transmitir mensajes positivos y estimular la imaginación de los lectores.
