The devil is what the majority fears - and he is the shadow, the repressed, what is missing - and thus also what is secretly most longed for. In Christianity, the devil is the punished perpetrator in hell and Christ is the redeemed victim in heaven - but who is the one who is whole? Who does not embody the power-molded perpetrator role like the devil, nor the powerlessness-molded victim role like Christ? Who is the one who embodies the independent, sovereign, self-contained and creative power?
