Albert Pike (Boston, 1809 – Washington D.C., 1891) fue un abogado, militar, poeta y destacado líder de la masonería estadounidense. En 1859, fue elegido Soberano Gran Comendador del Supremo Consejo del Grado 33 del Rito Escocés Antiguo y Aceptado para la Jurisdicción Sur de los Estados Unidos, cargo que desempeñó hasta su fallecimiento . Durante su mandato, Pike dedicó gran parte de su tiempo al desarrollo de los rituales esotéricos de la orden, consolidándose como una figura central en la historia de la masonería norteamericana.

Su obra más influyente es Moral y Dogma del Rito Escocés Antiguo y Aceptado de la Francmasonería (1871), un extenso tratado de 861 páginas que explora el simbolismo y la filosofía de los 32 primeros grados del rito . Este libro se convirtió en una guía esencial para los masones del siglo XIX y fue distribuido entre los miembros del rito en la Jurisdicción Sur de EE.UU. hasta 1974 .
