This classic on Buddhist meditation by Dharmanand Kosambi is a comprehensive book on the subject. Kosambi was one of the greatest Buddhist scholars of India. He wrote Samadhi Marg in Marathi almost eighty years ago to explain all the various methods of meditation taught by the Buddha. The language of original work was somewhat archaic and Kosambi didn't have all the resources that are easily available today. Keeping this in mind, Dr Dhananjay Chavan-a psychiatrist and Buddhist scholar-has edited the work, with simplified language, commentaries and footnotes to make it even more useful for both meditation practitioners and anyone who is curious about the Buddha's teaching. Samdhi Marg, or the Way to Samadhi, contains the essence of Buddha's teachings on the subject of Sadhana (meditation), covering various topics including mental conditions, obstacles to meditation, where and how to meditate, the states of mind, aspects conducive to meditation, meditation on nature, and many more. The author has taken the complex subject of meditation and it's theory and rendered it into an easy manner for the marathi reader. This book would make an excellent companion for anyone wishing to follow the Buddha's teachings, which can only be done by the application of these practices and walking on the middle path.
