Su primera novela, Comida gratis para millonarios, fue una de las «10 Mejores Novelas del Año» para el The Times, NPR’s Fresh Air y USA Today. Ha escrito para New York Times, Condé Nast, The Times, Vogue y Wall Street Journal, entre otros. Lee es miembro del Salón de la Fama de la Fundación de las Artes de Nueva York y del Salón de la Fama de los Escritores del Estado de Nueva York. Es escritora residente en Amherst College y se desempeña como fideicomisaria de PEN America y directora del Authors Guild.
