They had discovered the "magic" of the magnetism, the mind, and the communication which are now known as mesmerism, hypnotism, and NLP. These are essentially the method of mind-bending which are powerful enough to overcome the factors of frustrations mentioned above. Nevertheless, those are practised independently and people who blend those methods together are just rarely found.
