Reseña del libro "Going To College?: Questions Every Christian Should Be Able To Answer (en Inglés)"

This is a college preparation textbook for 11th and 12th grade Christian students. Its purpose is to help young Christians ask and answer questions about their faith that arise when they go off to college. Is God real? Doesn't science prove there is no god? Aren't abiogenesis and evolution better explanations for the origin of life and species than creation? What scientific evidence supports belief in God? How could a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing, and all powerful allow suffering and evil to exist? Why do you think you can trust the Bible? Jesus was clearly a good man, but what makes you think Jesus claimed to be God? Are morals relative to your situation or are they absolute? What is Pascal's wager and why does it matter to you? What will happen to people who die without accepting Christ? Will they go to hell? What about sex? Is abortion murder? If Jesus promised abundant life why do Christians suffer too? Doesn't the Bible say that the heavens and the earth were created in six days? What about the scientific evidence that the earth is 4.5 billion years old? Is doubt sin? The thesis of this book is simple. There is overwhelming evidence for the reality of God. The weight of scientific evidence strongly supports design rather than chance as the origin of the universe and life. Even the simplest form of life--the first living cell--is not only staggeringly complex but contains a huge amount of information. Chance can not and does not produce information. Cellular DNA and RNA are programs that produce living cells. They are code. Programs are information rich. Programs require a programmer. If there is no programmer the computer dictum applies--garbage in, garbage out. Chance is "garbage in." The scientific evidence for plan and design is clear. This is in total opposition to the beliefs of our culture--that there is only the "appearance of design," and that our universe and life itself are actually the result of chance. Just as Pharisees in Jesus time refused to recognize the truth about Jesus because He threatened their preconceived beliefs and their status in society, many scientists and philosophers in universities across America persist in their "no god" belief despite the clear scientific evidence for design. There is no conflict between science and religion. Science is simply man's search for understanding the universe. Physics and faith go hand in hand. Biology and belief are compatible companions. Chemistry goes with Christ; geology reflects god. But there is war between the world views of Naturalism and Christian theism. Naturalists believe there is no god--that the universe and life are the result of chance. There is no purpose, no plan, no overall significance to the universe or life. Human life is animal life. When you die you rot. And because the lifetime of individuals is short and the lifespan of cultures and nations is long, naturalists believe individual humans are of less worth than nations and societies. But Christians believe the opposite--that the universe was created with plan and purpose, that human life is precious, that we re not our own, that our bodies belong to God because He created us. Christians believe what we do is significant, that humans have immortal spirits--we live forever. Christians believe people are more important than nations and societies. Nations will end. People will not. Christians believe the moral law is built in to all people because we were made in the image of God. And not only do all people know the moral law, not only do they expect this behavior from others and claim "it's not fair" when someone violates this code, but all people break this moral law every day. We know what's right. We don't do it. and Christians have the only answer to this dilemma.
