Günter M. Ziegler (Múnich, 1963) es un destacado matemático alemán especializado en geometría discreta y combinatoria. Obtuvo su doctorado en el MIT en 1987 y ha desarrollado su carrera académica en Alemania, siendo profesor en la Universidad Técnica de Berlín y, desde 2011, en la Freie Universität Berlin, donde ejerce como presidente desde 2018. Su labor investigadora ha sido reconocida con premios como el Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (2001), el Chauvenet (2006) y el Leroy P. Steele (2018).

Entre sus obras más influyentes se encuentran Lectures on Polytopes (1995), un texto fundamental en geometría convexa, y Proofs from THE BOOK (1998), coescrito con Martin Aigner, que recopila demostraciones matemáticas elegantes y ha sido traducido a múltiples idiomas, incluyendo el español como El libro de las demostraciones.
